Dr Tomsho started his career in EMS in the late 1900’s after doing poorly in college and being told he would never be a doctor by several academic advisors. After about 10 years working as a Paramedic, he was beginning to notice the effects of aging on his body, so he decided it was time to go back to school before full blown Alzheimer’s, and frailty set in. He earned a Master of Science degree in Anatomy and Physiology, paying for his degree by teaching classes at Penn State that he had failed 10 years earlier. His research on dietary fats and their effects on aging bones earned him several publications and in addition to his 4.0, helped to make him an attractive candidate for Medical School. Before leaving Penn State, Dr. Tomsho made sure to go back and tell all those advisors from years earlier that told him he would never be a doctor, to shove it up their asses. After completing medical school in 2005, where he was affectionately called “old balls” by his much younger classmates, he completed his residency in Emergency medicine at LVHN. He has been with the network since 2005 and has continued to excel and advance his career both clinically and administratively. He earned an MBA in Healthcare management during the COVID years and is currently the Director of Emergency Medicine and Trauma and Lehigh Valley- Schuylkill and the Medical Director of the George E. Moerkirk Emergency Medicine Institute. All that is left for Dr. Tomsho as he heads into the final 3rd of his career, and enters his “geriatric” years, is retirement, and death. As this is the CODE conference, it should be noted that Dr. Tomsho is both a DNR and a DNF (DO NOT FOLEY).
