Mel Shiels is the Public Health Emergency Preparedness Manager at the Allentown Health Bureau. She is joined by her colleague, Pat Stein, a Community Health Specialist in the AHB's Public Health Preparedness Program. Mel and Pat have been working together at the Allentown Health Bureau for 26 years and are the Coordinators of Allentown Volunteer Medical Reserve Corps, also known as AVMRC. They have the seen firsthand the dedication, commitment and benefits of engaging MRC volunteers to help with public health programs, emergency preparedness outreach, and emergency response and recovery.
