EMS professionals are often the first healthcare providers to interact with survivors of sexual assault. This session explores the EMS role in trauma-informed care, neurobiological trauma responses, evidence preservation, patient-centered communication, and recognition of high-risk findings associated with non-fatal strangulation. Participants will also gain an understanding of the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) role and the medical forensic examination process.
