With over five decades of service in Fire, EMS, and Rescue, I began their career in 1970 as a volunteer with the Warminster Fire Department in Pennsylvania. Certified as an EMT in 1974 and as a paramedic in 1980, I went on to serve in three career fire departments: Chester, Bensalem, and ultimately the Philadelphia Fire Department, where I dedicated over 30 years, retiring in 2019 as Deputy Chief of EMS Operations.
Academically accomplished, I hold a bachelor's degree in Pre-Med from Pennsylvania State University (1977), a master’s degree in Public Safety Administration from St. Joseph’s University (2003), and a Six Sigma Green Belt certification from Villanova University (2012).
A certified Pennsylvania State Fire, Rescue, and EMS Instructor since the early 1970s, I remain active at the local, state, and federal levels. I have contributed extensively to the professional literature as a past EMS Co-Editor for Firehouse Magazine, authoring 25 articles. My expertise also extends to legal consultation, having served as an expert witness in over 15 Fire and EMS-related cases in the past five years.
Currently, I serve as the Paramedic Program Director at Bucks County Community College, where I teach EMT and Vehicle Rescue courses and continue to shape the next generation of emergency responders. This year marks my tenth consecutive lecture at this conference.
